Shoruq Organization Holds Dialogue on Press Freedom and Freedom of Expression in Palestine as Part of the "Our Voice is Free" Campaign
As part of the "Our Voice is Free" campaign, and in partnership with Swedo, Shoruq Organization organised a panel discussion titled "Press Freedom and Freedom of Expression in Palestine and the Changes Affecting Them." The event brought together academics, media professionals, and human rights advocates to examine the current state of media freedom in Palestine and the challenges facing journalists and media institutions.
The discussion featured Dr. Mohammad Akka, Mr. Farid Al-Atrash, and journalist Saed Najm, who shared their perspectives on the evolving landscape of press freedom and freedom of expression. Speakers explored the impact of political and security developments on the media environment and the ability of journalists to carry out their professional responsibilities independently.
Participants also discussed the growing restrictions affecting Palestinian media, the importance of protecting the right to access information, and the need to safeguard freedom of opinion and expression in accordance with international human rights principles. The discussion emphasised the importance of creating an environment in which journalists can work safely and freely.
The event provided an important platform for dialogue and the exchange of ideas, encouraging meaningful discussions on protecting fundamental freedoms, strengthening independent journalism, and reinforcing the media's role in promoting accountability, human rights, and informed public discourse.
The panel discussion forms part of Shoruq Organization's "Our Voice is Free" campaign, an initiative launched to promote press freedom and freedom of expression while raising awareness of issues affecting media freedom in Palestine. Through this campaign, the organisation seeks to support independent journalism and defend the public's right to information.
